Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Our contact with wildlife will be very limited, but we are committed to conserving and respecting it. Our local Indian guides will educate guests on the wildlife encountered and the best ways to conserve it and we encourage customers to adhere to local rules and customs regarding this. Our guide will make larger bottles/jugs of water available throughout the tour so that you can bring your personal water bottle to refill in order to avoid creating excessive plastic waste.
We always encourage travelers with us to be mindful of the amount of water they consume during the tour such as when they shower, brush their teeth, etc.
The same goes for energy consumption as with water. For example, we strongly recommend unplugging and turning off any electronic devices when not using them as well as being careful about turning off the lights, air conditioners, fans, etc. when they leave their accommodation.
When possible we always try our best to stay in boutique hotels , many of which have been recycled into the purpose of a hotel from some other form of building.
People
All of our suppliers are locals and we encourage our guests to shop locally as well. Whenever possible, we avoid large-scale accommodation and try to stay in boutique, locally-owned hotels, for example. Our time in India will offer guests access to real Indian families as often as possible so that they may learn about the real life and daily struggles of those living here. We always strive to promote cultural and social exchange on our tours and India is no exception to this.
We pay our guides and vendors a fair payment that is well-above the local standard of living in India. We believe that by offering, fair and honest salaries to them, they will feel empowered to give back to their community as well as continue to offer exemplary travel services to our travelers.
During the Holi Festival, travelers will celebrate part of the festival with a local family to learn the history and traditions of this ancient celebration. We'll then venture into the city to spend time with the citizens of Jaipur as they enjoy this energetic and bright day. We'll reconvene with the same family we began the festivities with for a home-cooked meal that we help prepare along with some nice conversation.
Our tour in India will take us to many touristic places, but we always seek to take customers to local cooperatives that educate and promote sustainability so that local economies may be stimulated and the people working there feel empowered.
