Environment

1. Wildlife- This tour includes many opportunities for our guests to witness the flora and fauna of Sri Lanka and we have strict rules in place to ensure our guides are properly trained on how to conduct the tour without hindering nature and the surroundings. Moreover the safari operators and whale watching operators we use for the Yala National Park and Udawalawa National Park safaris are licensed professionals who have a record of safety and good practices.
2. Suppliers- The individuals who will conduct Sinharaja Rain Forest hike are from the local community and we are giving them opportunities to earn meaningful employment and helping them grow by offering them training programs whenever possible. The hotels used in this tour have strict policies in place that ensure employees are looked after and minimal damage is done to the environment as a result of their operations.
3. Conservation centers- As part of this package, guests are taken to the Elephant Transit home which is a rehabilitation center for orphaned and injured elephants who are cared for and then released back into the wild. The income generated from this conservation center helps fund the center and allows it to carry out its activities. Visiting this center also educates guests on the importance of elephant conservation and the threats facing elephants in the wild.

Community

1. Friends and neighbors- When on tour we encourage clients to eat at locally-owned restaurants rather than global multinational companies. As much as possible, we try to look for local hostels and hotels which are safe, comfortable and operated in a sustainable way. We also make an effort to look out for accommodation options which utilize energy from renewable sources such as solar energy for electricity generation.
2. Support the local community- We ensure that local economies benefit from our business by using locally-owned accommodation, employing local people as guides . During this tour, we will utilize the services of local rain forest guides and safari guides and train them regularly.
3. Campaigning for change- We were apart of the movement that campaigned for the enactment of the animal welfare bill and the law to make spearfishing illegal. These campaigns were successful and the bills was passed in parliament that made spearfishing illegal and legislation was passed to enact the animal welfare bill.
