Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Our services while traveling in Peru are run by established tour operators, hotel, lodges, and in collaboration with locals belonging to communities we visit, also with nature preserves or archaeological parks. Our operations in the Paracas National Reserve and Isla Ballestas are run by certified drivers, motorists, and guides. Our logistics have been designed to avoid the abuse of wildlife, leaving waste, misuse precious water, or polluting fragile destinations like these unique marine environments or, similarly, as we travel Andean valleys still inhabited by local Quechua communities.

Our staff will always encourage our guest travelers to be respectful with living cultures that temporarily host us in their traditional territories, such as is the case of our visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas or the Taquile and Amantaní islands in Lake Titicaca. In the same manner, our visitation will be responsible as we visit protected archaeological sites and monuments such as the Nazca Lines, Inca Trail or Machu Picchu and many other pre-Incan or Incan sites.

Tourism has by far become the best justification for preserving ecosystems still in use by communities and indigenous groups, also one sound alternative to help save traditions and the way of life of many living cultures that survived for hundreds or thousands of years but have been threatened by weak development economic plans or aggressive and hungry minning projects. As Peru is getting better economically, non-inclusive rapid development programs represent the biggest menace for the cultural and environmental survival of traditional inhabitants in the Coast, Andes and Amazon rainforests.

We strongly believe that as responsible operators, and by bringing people to Peru and helping to fund the right projects and put money in the right hands, we can help make a difference, a big one, to benefit all.

Most of our partners in business are locals or even native people who make a living from tourism. One hundred percent of our staff is Peruvian, most still having extended families in several locations we will visit during this tour like Lima, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Colca Canyon, Cusco, Arequipa, Puno, and Lake Titicaca.

We have maintained a long and strong business tie with them, as we collaborate or work to sell services to international travelers. Many locations, far from large cities that centralize the economy and development, tourism has become the most important economy for a large number of Peruvians that today can benefit from better opportunities and access better education and health.

Although tourism will not directly benefit everyone, as some experts and scholars have manifested, the truth is that after decades of work as conservations and ecotourism consultants, we have seen something different. The ones that actively participated in this activity have demonstrated success. These beneficiaries still inhabit healthy ecosystems and phenomenal landscapes with incredible biodiversity, culture and rich traditions before this can get lost. We firmly reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting these efforts that are becoming key stones of local development along the Peruvian Coast, Andes and Amazon rainforest.
