Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Finland wildlife photography tour

We are well aware of negative impact that travel can cause to the environment, so we are doing all our best to prevent any damage to nature. We educate our travelers to be aware of their impact on the ecosystems and to act responsibly. That is why we have created a 'Travelers' Code of Conduct' to help prepare and inform our groups of the various positive or negative effects they could have on a destination.

Kuikka Base Camp where our guest will be accommodated during the photographic safari, is a traditional rural Finnish log house, built with wood and other natural materials designed to fits the surrounding. It is owned by locals and all staff are local.

For many years Fiona, our host for the tour, was often involved with working to tackle the challenges faced by the people tasked to protect the wildlife and the important habitats they depend upon. As a result, she continues to actively support conservation initiatives around the world.

We derive a lot of pleasure from spending time with e animals and in environments so we believe that we have a responsibility to do all we can to help and support the continuing conservation of these animals and places and inspire others to do the same.

We advise our travelers to take care of nature, control water usage whenever they can, and pick up all the litter that they see.

Our tours are designed to show and preserve local culture and traditions.

We feel particular to give our customers the opportunity to spend time with people local to the country, supporting their livelihoods and assimilating the local culture.

We also use local transport wherever possible.

Our meals in our tour are prepared by local chef. Our goal is not only to help the local community but also to educate our customers to act in a socially responsible way. We will attempt to give an insight and understanding of the host culture and community to our clients so that they can gain more from their visit. All our travelers who book through our company receive information on Finland prior to their trip, to understand and respect the culture and environment of the host destination.

We will be making a donation on behalf of the group to Bear Trust International, a non-profit organisation, working to conserve all 8 species of the world’s bears, other wildlife, and habitat. They believe that wild bears in their natural habitat are key indicators of ecosystem health. Their ability to sustain themselves is, therefore, critical to wildlife. Bear Trust strives to reinforce ecosystem viability through habitat conservation and education projects that build on timely research, in the hope of conserving wild bears for future generations.

By visiting this area and country we also help to support the photo-tourism model, showing that the presence of bears and wolves can be and bring economic benefits to local people and economies.
