Small group adventure vacation

This is a 'small group adventure' - on this particular group trip you'll be with a maximum of 31 like minded travelers and you'll have a group leader with you. Whether you are traveling alone or with friends it's good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travelers of all ages who enjoy meeting people from other parts of the world as well as seeing new places!

Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Environment
Our trips are known for being small group tours and in Cuba our maximum group size is 12 people. This not only allows our travelers to have a more authentic and intimate experience, but also means we’re able to minimise the impact we have on the local environment and the communities we visit. We always ensure that the transportation we use is of an appropriate size, meaning no 12-seater vehicles if only four people are traveling. Where possible we try to do without motorised transport altogether as with our bicycle taxi tour through Camaguey.

Our small group sizes also make it possible to stay in family-run guesthouses, which are a lot more environmentally-friendly than the bigger hotel chains. Cuban guesthouses or casa particulares are especially charming and contribute significantly to travelers’ overall experience of the country. Not to mention, they help to create jobs for the Cuban people and enable us to directly invest in the local economy.

One of the biggest problems Cuba faces is the inadequate disposal of waste and the government has now invested in a program to raise environmental awareness amongst the population. To contribute towards these efforts, we avoid using single-use plastic bottles and opt for refillable ones instead. During the initial welcome meeting, our guides will discuss this issue with the group making them conscious of the situation as early on as possible.

The Impacts of this Trip

All on-the-ground staff helping us to deliver this trip are Cuban and share our commitment to responsible travel. They’re also trained in our global responsible travel policies and practices. Plus, we use a range of other local suppliers for different activities throughout this itinerary too.
Promoting intercultural exchanges between travelers and local people is really important to us. We’re committed to broadening our travelers’ understanding of their destination and these sorts of interactions can really assist in that. By coming into direct contact with local Cubans, through activities such as salsa lessons, our travelers feel like more than just visitors here. Our guided tours of Havana, Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba also focus not only on exploring these beautiful places but giving a real insight into Cuban life too.
We also think it’s essential to gain an insight into the history of Cuba. Whilst our local guides will be a fountain of knowledge on this, visits to the Che Guevara Mausoleum and Museum in Santa Clara will help our travelers to gain a more in-depth understanding of why Cuba is the way it is today.
