Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
In the destinations we travel to, we adopt a "take in, take back out" approach, especially when visiting fragile environments, remote areas and national parks. In an effort to reduce single-use plastics during our trips we also provide our travelers with reusable bags. The private transportation we use on this tour carries a large tank of drinking water and travelers are encouraged to bring their own re-usable water bottles in order to refill them. Therefore, reducing the number of single-use plastic bottles disposed of by our travelers.
We encourage all accommodation providers on this trip to follow water-saving policies. In bathrooms at hotels there are notes advising how to place your towels if you don’t require new ones. This lowers the amount of unnecessary laundry being done and reducing the water usage of each group. These notes also include reminders to turn off running water while washing hands and brushing teeth.
People
We employ predominantly local staff and leaders within our operational teams. We also design and operate our trips to feature local suppliers or suppliers who directly benefit the local community and economy.
This trip includes a meal at a training restaurant, where disadvantaged youths are trained to be chefs, wait staff and bartenders. They are prepared and assisted to enter the work force both in local hotels and restaurants, as well as international venues. By dining at a training restaurant, our travelers ensure the sustainability of this model of education and empowerment of local people.
Our philosophy is to act local and that means respecting the local traditions. During this trip you will learn more about the lives of real Cambodians during a homestay visit. In the peaceful village of Chambok, local hosts will share their customs and daily activities with travelers. A guided walk of the village, traditional meal, dancing and overnight stay in a stilt house allow travelers to gain greater respect for the Cambodian way of life.
