1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The scenery was stunning and the itinerary was exactly what I wanted. I enjoyed going off the beaten track and finding my way by Garmin GPS. It was really
unspoilt countryside with very little traffic, and the weather was perfect for cycling - sunny but not too warm.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The great thing about it was that the itinerary was designed specifically for my requirements, but it took several iterations to get exactly what I wanted, so
don't be afraid to ask if you'd like something to be changed. The Greek partner company was incredibly friendly and helpful.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Given that I was traveling by bike and train my carbon footprint once I arrived in Greece was quite low. I daresay staying in hotels and eating out helped the
local economy in a small way.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Really enjoyable, surpassed my expectations!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

It's hard to pick just one thing. The rides were great, the selection of archaeological sights was exceptionally well done! My favorite bike ride was going down the mountain from Delphi, my boyfriend's was a couple of days later. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun and always made sure we had fun and customized the trip to suit our interests, frequently without us even having to ask. ("We noticed you liked swimming, so we tried to find beaches near our
other rides.")

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Be vocal about your likes and dislikes, they are happy to accommodate around them. But also: probably do some hill biking before this trip. Greek's "mostly flat" is different from my midwestern US background "mostly flat." Also, bike gloves made the descents a lot easier with the flat bars, both for padding and to absorb some of the hand sweat.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

All of the hotels, restaurants, and businesses seemed to be locally owned, including the tour company. The guides at the archaeological sites were local, and our tour guides were from the Athens area. I'm not sure about reducing environmental impact, given that we were driven around for the trip.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We had an amazing time - top notch! Elpida planned a great trip for us and Dmitris and Costas (names potentially spelled wrong, sorry guys) were amazing to spend a week with. I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

This is a Cycling & Cultural vacation to the South of Greece with nature, culture and activity in good proportions. During this tour, our dear guests, you will have the opportunity to visit the major historical sites of the south of Greece, traveling through beautiful typical Mediterranean landscapes. Your guides will share their wide knowledge with you.

No single-use receptacles are used in our picnics; fabric picnic tablecloth instead of a paper or a plastic one, washable dishes and cutlets. Our guests must have their own picnic set! We also avoid the use of plastic water bottles. In most areas the water is drinkable and we can fill our flasks with tap water.

Your tour guides will probably encourage you to help them clean at least the picnic spot collecting any possible garbage and carried them to the nearest operating bucket. We do it anyway…

Cycling itself is an environmental friendly activity.
We do though use a vehicle for the transfers, when we do not cycle. However, as this tour is designed for small groups, it is performed with a minivan (new tech), which certainly has limited impact to the environment compared to a bus.

Our company promotes ecotourism and sustainable adventure vacations, whilst providing you a unique travel experience. We guide you to the beautiful nature and civilization of Southern Greece, in a journey off the beaten path.

People

We are a Greek family run tour operator and travel designer with a long experience and we work with local people: We select small locally owned and mainly family run accommodations and restaurants, we shop for our picnics from small local stores and we employ locally based cultural guides for the archeological sites. Also for the meals we choose typical dishes cooked with locally produced ingredients, fact that certainly benefits agriculture and livestock of the South.

This tour is certainly beneficial for the local economies as it supports the two main activities: tourism and primary production.

We ask our guests to respect the culture and customs of each destination and do everything possible not to disturb the local activities. As this is a trip for small groups the negative impact to everyday life is practically zero.

Our guides and local partners with their expertise and knowledge on the area, they will make this vacation an unforgettable experience for you.
