Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
The very nature of our boat, powered by sail, is something we believe helps to increase awareness of how we travel and the impact it has on the environment. Our onshore activities normally follow this belief of using human power as opposed to fuels. Cycling, walking, kayaking tours all mean we can lessen the impact on our surrounding environment, at the same time benefitting from reaching spots you would miss in a bus or car. On this trip we have chosen walking tours and canyoning so we can truly enjoy the local beauty without clogging roads with vehicles and polluting the air even further.
We use responsible suppliers for all our cleaning products and encourage people to use homemade, non-toxic products aswell. Our suppliers don't just provide biodegradable and organic products they also have a very strong Corporate Social Responsibility policy ensuring the benefits are kept local and their workers are well treated and their work conditions are happy & healthy.
People
In an effort to add value to our visits in different towns & cities we use local suppliers for our provisions, eat out in locally run, independent restaurants and hire local people for any works that are needed on the ship in each harbour where we dock. By doing this we ensure the local community benefit from our visits and see us as a plus to the local economy and tourism, rather than a drain on local resources. We also work with the local marinas and town halls offering free guided visits to the ship by our crew for the local residents, further connecting us to the local community and being an asset to the towns we visit. On some of these occasions a local company will come on board to offer a wine & food tasting afternoon to guests from the town and our own participants creating a link between the visitors and the visited.Popular similar vacations
