1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We enjoyed the energy and colors of Kathmandu and the serenity of the river safari at Chitwan. The visits to Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Kwa Bahal Temple and the World Peace Pagoda were especially memorable.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be sure all activities are operating and have been confirmed. Be cognizant of incorrect charges on your tea house bills if you are trekking.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Community support and environmental conservation were evident at Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge, constructed with local materials. They showcase the rescued elephants by including a visit with them during your river safari sundowner. Also, our walk through the Asan Bazaar included food stops that benefitted local people.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Overall, our vacation was good. Our guide in Kathmandu, Treelo (spelling?) always made sure that we ate food that had been prepared hygenically, which we appreciated. Our hiking guide Dhan, was able to match our ability levels to the itinerary and adjust as needed. Drivers for transfers were on time and polite. The hotels selected, especially in Kathmandu, were well located and comfortable. Our frustrations arose from two areas: 1) the Neydo Monastery activities apparently were not confirmed, and they were not offering the items outlined in our itinerary. A call to the emergency number to try to rectify the situation resulted in many discussions with an employee who seemed unempowered and unable to help. We had no confidence in her, so had to reach out to UK office to get assistance. A credit for the day was granted, so I thank you for doing the right thing in that regard. 2) Our tea house charged us for our room and for tea we did not drink. The room charge was included in our payment to the company. While our guide refunded the room charge to us, I am uncertain why they would do business with this tea house, when there are many in the area. When reflecting on the trip, we say it was a mixed experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with our team, we're so pleased that overall you had a good trip however we note and apologise for the operational issues
you experienced. I know that Ed has been in touch with you regarding these. We have discussed the problems in some details with our team in Nepal and
whilst it would have of course been far better that they could have been avoided on your trip, we have taken the necessary steps to ensure that they don't
happen again. We hope to be able to assist you in planning your future travels.

Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
This tailormade itinerary is based on private travel in Nepal, not in a large group. By traveling in this way we have minimal disruptive impact on the environment and the communities visited and are able to stay in small, locally run accommodation, where possible, that is not suitable for larger coach tours. At the beginning of 2018 we launched our ‘One Bottle At A Time’ initiative to replace disposable plastic water bottles with refillable canisters across our destinations. We also send our guests a wooden toothbrush to help avoid using hotels’ disposable plastic brushes, and educate clients about the limited recycling facilities in Asia, and best-practice regarding waste-reduction.
In order to truly contribute towards a healthier planet, we believe in putting our efforts into traveling responsibly and donating towards conservation projects. This is why we’ve put together the Selective Earth Programme, which offers all our clients the opportunity to contribute towards conservation projects in Asia. We have teamed up with the World Land Trust (WLT) – an international conservation charity who actively conserve Asia’s rainforest whilst supporting local communities. We work closely with the trust to identify which projects are a priority for funding, to ensure our donations keep on making a difference. We are currently contributing towards the conservation of the Khe Nuoc Trong forest, in Vietnam, as well as planting fruit trees in the surrounding communities.
People
One of our core values is to collaborate with local, responsible companies and partners who share our focus, beliefs and passions. In Nepal, we work with local guides, local operators and hotel partners, and will always offer small, local accommodation where possible and boutique hotels in the cities. Our vacations are designed to enable our clients to immerse themselves in local places and experiences, and we make sure that, wherever possible, the income they bring to a destination goes back into the community. This Nepal itinerary visits the village of Panauti. Several Panauti families have joined forces to establish a home-stay program and your accommodation for the night will be in the home of a local family. Also included is a night at the Neydo Monastery which offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the daily lives of the resident monks. The income generated from overnight guests contributes to the day-to-day running of the monastery.
In 2015 an earthquake ravaged parts of Nepal, destroying whole villages in some areas and reducing ancient temples to mournful piles of bricks. Repairs are underway and visiting Nepal now is a great way to bring much-needed income to the country.
