Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

We ensure our guides are mindful about protecting the environment in which you travel, and they do a fantastic job of promoting having a minimum impact whilst traveling, whether in natural or urban areas.

To you, our travelers, we ask you to be vigilant about disposing of your waste and recycle where possible. During your trip you will be asked if you have any waste to dispose of when it is a suitable time in the itinerary. This ensures we make it as easy as possible for our travelers to be eco-friendly whilst traveling.

Similarly, we strongly advise all travelers to bring a reusable water bottle - this is an easy way to save plastic waste and is detailed in our ‘What to Bring’ trip notes for all trips to all destinations. We are proud to announce a partnership with WaterToGo, who provide reusable bottles which filter 99.9% of microbiological contaminants. You can receive 15% off with our unique discount code (contact us directly for details). Not only are these bottles better for the environment, but we will be donating any commission we receive to WaterAid – a charity we are proud to support in a number of ways.

This trip also supports the Toro Toro and Cotapata national parks, as well as the Senda Verde Wildlife Refuge. All three of these locations do fantastic work in the protection of Bolivia’s animal and plant species, as well as important natural features and the untouched natural landscapes that form the parks themselves. Visitors provide a vital source of support for these locations, without which, they would not be able to continue to operate.

The Impacts of this Trip

As regular travelers, one thing that never ceases to amaze and inspire us is the kindness and generosity of local people, often people who have very little to their name. We firmly believe that they are who make these places special and that they should benefit from our visit. Therefore, as first preference, we use local guides offered fair working conditions and pay, and visit locally-owned lodges, shops and eateries. We do our best to ensure that the benefits of our tours reach as widely as possible into the communities where they operate.

In addition to the numerous social benefits that all of our tours bring as a result of our responsible ethos, this trip features a number of fantastic opportunities for additional support and positive community impact. This includes stops such as Bolivia’s famous Witches’ Market, among a number of others. Not only is the market culturally significant, but it offers our travelers an excellent opportunity to purchase local goods and handicrafts directly from the local craftspeople. Other features of the trip which greatly benefit local communities in various ways include a crafts workshop and a classical music display in Concepción, as well as support to many museums, gardens and other culturally and historically significant locations.

We believe all of the previously mentioned factors are of particular importance when traveling in small communities such as those included on this itinerary, and we are proud to benefit these communities in any way possible, whether it be through economic growth or any other means.
