Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

We operate on a completely paperless basis when communicating with clients and our contacts on the ground, recycle all plastic bottles from the tours. We maintain safe distances from all wildlife experiences, including gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, and do not allow flash photography while close to the wildlife.
For our tours to Uganda, we reserve a portion of the tours to support the World Resources Institute. WRI’s mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth’s environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. In Uganda, WRI engages in climate mitigation and adaptation, sustainable finance, and access to information issues.
We encourage travelers to reduce waste and consumption wherever possible. We provide all travelers with canvas totes prior to their trip to reduce the amount of plastic bags. Limiting water usage by actions like taking shorter showers and declining bedding changes for example. We encourage travelers to reduce waste and consumption wherever possible, specifically in the more remote lodges in the western part of the country.
The Impacts of this Trip
We start by focusing our tours during the off season, which creates economic stability in the country. By booking directly through our local partners, are utilizing local guides, encouraging clients to buy local souvenirs, and staying at locally owned & operated lodges, not only do our travelers have better experiences but as much money as possible stays within Uganda.
To date, 90.31% of the full cost of all tours booked with Off Season Adventures has gone directly back into the local economies.
We reserve 5% of our clients’ total package cost to invest in the local communities and environment through our partnering 501(c)(3) Second Look Worldwide. These investments are tangible projects which our clients can see during their trip. All projects are determined by the communities and dependent on their most direct needs, however, we are focusing on projects that support water management solutions.
In Uganda, we have partnered with ASTCF to support its numerous initiative mainly in the Fort Portal region of the country. Clients on this tour to Uganda will be able to see the vibrancy of the Ugandan food and culture, both past and present, and be able to see and interact with locals throughout the tour. Travelers will be able to interact and participate in local activities like handicraft and bee hive making, which not only are fun experiences, but directly impact locals in positive ways through economic development and women empowerment.
We encourage travelers to purchase locally produced goods and utilizing local services such as souvenirs, crafts, meals, guides, and establishments. These all can enhance the traveler experience and have a positive impact in Uganda.
We provide accurate pre-trip information concerning Uganda, including the social and political situation and require all travelers to respect the local customs and traditions of Uganda. Being mindful of our actions abroad always results in a better experience while traveling.
