Small group adventure vacation
Whether you are traveling alone or with friends/family its good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is plenty of free time to explore at your own pace. This trip will appeal to travelers of all ages who enjoy meeting new people as well as seeing new places.Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Our La Paz to Santiago tour incorporates a number of serene and otherworldly areas of natural beauty, including the mind-blowing expanse of the Uyuni salt flats, the aptly named unearthly-looking Valley of the Moon and the Atacama Desert’s array of surreal lakes. When traveling to such locations our tour leaders invoke a strict no littering policy, so that travelers leave nothing behind other than their fading footsteps in the sand. We appreciate that recycling facilities are not always readily available when visiting such places. If this is the case we strongly advise that travelers bring their waste with them until such a recycling option becomes available.
When visiting somewhere as dry as the Bolivia-Chile border, drinking plenty of water is essential. We always ask that you refill your bottle when possible and that single use plastics are kept to a minimum.
Tour leaders also ensure that nothing is taken from the natural environment that shouldn't be, making sure that the area is left in the same state as it was upon arrival. When staying in cities such as La Paz and Santiago we opt for accommodation that lies close to the city center, leading to a reduction in the use of environmentally unfriendly transport, as most sights are within walking distance. The region of the Uyuni Salt Flats and Laguna Colorada are remote, beautiful areas with much more limited resources than other locations in Bolivia and Chile. Because of this, accommodation options are incredibly limited. We stay in basic hostels which have limited electricity and water, ensuring that we do not put too much pressure on the natural environment which we visit. While facilities are basic, travelers are reminded that this is the best way to stay in this area while ensuring the visit is environmentally friendly.
We always encourage travelers on our tours to minimise electricity and water usage when traveling with us, taking showers rather than baths and ensuring that all electrical appliances and lights are turned off when they are not in use. We also utilise local transport whenever possible in an attempt to reduce our effect on the environment and support local economies. The fact that our tours are always in small groups helps to make sure that any environmental footprint that may be left is significantly lessened and also prevents unnecessary crowding in particular destinations.
The Impacts of this Trip
Protecting and nourishing local communities is a vital element of our beliefs as a company. On our tours we rely on operators and guides familiar with the region who speak Spanish, due to the fact that they harbour an extensive knowledge of not only the sights but also the local customs, helping the entire tour experience run more smoothly and with greater authenticity. Being totally accustomed with the area, tour guides and leaders can also translate for travelers and advise where is best to eat and buy local merchandise. This leads to an avoidance of any sort of globalised experience - which allows travelers to delve deeper into the culture - and sees more money invested in the community in question, helping them live a greater quality of life. This is particularly relevant in regions like the Uyuni salt flats, where the remote nature of the town means poorer residents. In line with this, the accommodation we use in Uyuni and Laguna Colorada are owned by local families to ensure our money is getting injected into the immediate economy.
On this trip, most breakfasts are included, as well as two lunches and two dinners while staying in the remote area of Uyuni and Laguna Colorada National Park. Meals are included here because options are incredibly limited. In all other locations on tour, customers are free to explore the restaurants and cuisines on offer. Our tour leaders will always recommend the most authentic establishments that provide local produce, not only does this support local business but ensuring you are eating local keeps the footprint of your food as low as possible.
Traveling with Respect – On our website’s responsible travel pages we provide a list of tips on creating good relationships between our travelers and the local communities that we visit on our tours. For example, for this tour we would recommend that clients learn some Spanish to try and connect with the local people, and we would advise researching the history, religion and local traditions of Bolivia and Chile to help them appreciate the architecture and culture of those countries and thereby get the most from their trip while respecting local customs.
