Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Accommodation: In Wadi Rum, Jordan, we spend one night in a tented camp in the desert. This form of accommodation uses minimum resources while also providing a wonderfully unique desert experience for customers - there is nothing quite like gazing up at the stars from the middle of the desert.
Group Size: We operate this tour with a maximum of 19 passengers, ensuring that our groups are small enough as to not disturb the sites and communities that we visit. This also means that we can use smaller vehicles to get between destinations, and avoid the use of large coaches.
Meals: Where meals are included on this trip, the food that is provided is local and sourced from within the country. Even when international options are available, we encourage our customers to try the local dishes for the most authentic experience. Eating local produce is the single best way to ensure your food is not shipped from abroad and has a low carbon footprint. Food in the Middle East consists largely of vegetarian and plant-based dishes such as hummus, vegetables, falafels, vine leaves and other legumes. While meat is also heavily consumed, we encourage customers to opt for plant-based meals when possible since agriculture has much higher carbon emissions. Since we only use local guides from both Jordan and Israel. While of course this benefits both the group and local economy, hiring from within the country which we visit also eliminates flying staff in from international locations.
We have a detailed responsible travel policy online which is sent out to all customers upon booking. This policy provides helpful tips on how to be a responsible traveler, how to respect environments that you visit and the everyday little things everyone can do to act sustainably. First and foremost, we always ask that all travelers switch off all electricity and air conditioning before leaving a room and try to avoid purchasing single-use plastics unless necessary. We encourage customers to adopt a reduce, reuse and recycle mindset and always take every opportunity to think in a sustainable way when on tour.
The Impacts of this Trip
We are committed to employing local guides and operators on this tour so that we can support local communities by providing business opportunities to local people, including using local restaurants and shops. This tour visits both Jordan and Israel, and the group will have two different tour leaders since we want to ensure they are being led by a local to that country. Not only does this support the country’s economy but the knowledge and stories that local leaders bring to the group is unmatched.
On this trip our aim is to introduce customers to the traditions and way of life of the communities which we visit. One of the ways we do this is by including a dinner cooked by our local Bedouin hosts while in the desert in Wadi Rum. Travelers have the opportunity to learn how the zarb is cooked using an earth oven which is a wonderfully unique experience.
We visit a number of culturally different but exciting destinations across two countries that aim to introduce travelers to the rich history and traditions of the Middle East. Some of the key historical sites that we visit include the Ancient City of Petra, the Old City of Jerusalem and Nazareth, where passengers will get the opportunity to explore these sites with professional and knowledgeable local guides.
Where we include excursions and activities we work with suppliers whose values match ours when it comes to respecting the communities that we visit. This includes partnering with local guides and representatives who we ensure are employed under fair conditions, are paid a living wage and are supported when out with clients.
