As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
This tour is provided by Skafur-Tour certified by Biosphere and Sustainable Travel Finland. We use a public bus route from Tromso in Norway to Kittilä in Finland. The first stop is a husky safari provided by Hetta Huskies committed to operating with a long-term sustainability focus minimizing the environmental footprint of their actions. They will then stay two nights at a reindeer farm where reindeer are rambling free and nature around is wider open so you can strongly feel, how small an individual is compared to nature surrounding us.
You will stay at an authentic reindeer farm where reindeer are rambling free and you will spend a day with Sámi reindeer herder Nils-Matti Vasara, a reindeer herder in the 13th generation. During the day you will learn a lot about reindeer herding. At the farm, you can try kick-sledding, snowshoeing, and children's fun from the old times, a sled taking you all around. In this region, there are not only Sámi people living but also Finns who settled here a long time ago. We try to use local services whenever possible and bring extra income to this frontier community. You will also be served a Lappish dinner in Goathi, a Sámi hut, around a blazing fire.
