Laos and Vietnam cycling tour, Hmong Homelands & Sapa

We are committed to cut carbon emissions on this tour by using public transfer options where available. All guides are locally based & therefore we eliminate the need to fly in personnel. As this tour visits multiple countries, guides for the Laos portion will be with the group until it is time to enter Vietnam. Once the border crossing is complete, the group will meet their Vietnamese guide to continue the journey. Our partner guides in Vietnam are fully educated on environmentally friendly procedures & adhere to the same ethical codes of conduct as our guides in Laos.

Meals are focused on local foods. When meat is included in meals, it is not the focus of the meal & dairy is very rarely used. Vegetarian & vegan options are available with notice upon booking.

We encourage guests to bring 2 refillable water bottles in order to eliminate the need for single use plastic water bottles.

A portion of the fee for this tour go to support our FairTrek Program. FairTrek funds such schemes as constructing community buildings with single use plastic bottles in remote villages to provide a use for waste & offer a communal gathering space for villagers.

People

We believe in supporting our community by hiring local guides & patronizing locally owned businesses. In every community we stay in during our tour, we purchase from local markets & local restaurants. Meals are provided in either a picnic style or at small restaurants. Vegetarian & Vegan options are available with notice upon booking. We also support educational social enterprises. On this tour we support Khaiphaen in Luang Prabang & Sapa O’Chau in Sapa.

Khaipaen is a vocational training restaurant that is part of the TREE Alliance. TREE restaurants provide hands-on training & life skills education for marginalized youth. Sapa O’Chau Social Enterprise Hotel offers students the opportunity to live in a healthy environment while attending school, provides adults the opportunity to earn a fair & reliable wage, & also offers access to social services to the entire community. By supporting Sapa O’Chau, the entire community benefits in some way.
