Our partners with responsible guides in Laos & Thailand on this ten day journey. Whenever possible & when it makes sense, our guests will be on their cycles or use local transport for transfers. This reduces carbon emission while contributing to the local economy. We do not promote unethical animal encounters. On the contrary, on this tour we visit the only dairy farm in Laos & while there, guests learn how the farm works with community farmers; teaching them how to best raise, feed, & treat their animals to ensure long & happy lives. Meals provided will focus on local ingredients which again helps keep carbon emissions low. Vegetarian & vegan options are available upon request at booking. All guides for this tour will stay in their country when guest pass across the border to eliminate the need for long distance air or van travel. Guests are encouraged to bring at least 2 refillable water bottles to reduce unnecessary plastic waste.

People

We supports each local community along the route. Overnight accommodations are chosen with a preference for locally owned guesthouses or eco-resorts rather than chain hotels whenever possible. Visits to local markets for souvenirs & snacks is emphasized over stops at chain mini-marts. We also do our best to keep to dirt roads & visit areas beyond the typical tourist track to not only share lesser known areas of SE Asia, but also to extend the reach of positive tourism. All guests are encouraged to bring at least 2 refillable water bottles in order to cut down on unnecessary plastic consumption & keep all waste with them throughout the day for proper disposal once at their nightly accommodation. Our guides are employed year round & live locally which provides financial stability & ensures they spend a maximum amount of time with their families as opposed to requiring travel between countries. All guides receive ongoing training in areas such as first aid & safety.
