Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Koalas are under threat from climate change. Near to the area you will be planting trees is a healthy population of koalas, who are suffering from extreme heat events and drought. They need these trees planted urgently.

By participating you will plant targeted koala trees in the places koalas need them most, beside rivers and streams to protect koalas from heat, drought and bushfire. You will also help fund the planting of koala trees even after you've gone.

Koalas need trees with high moisture content urgently if they are to survive climate change, with the predicted extreme heat events, dryness and drought predicted for this region.

In just four years, these trees could be providing food for a koala.

By participating you will engage with local landowners and local community members and help educate others about the importance of koalas.

In addition, 100% of profits made from this experience will be donated to Koala Clancy Foundation – an independent charity dedicated to saving koalas in the wild - to continue tree planting and advocating for protection of wild koalas.

The Impacts of this Trip

On this trip you will be volunteering with locals. The core of our Foundation’s mission is to educate, inspire and empower local people to preserve their wildlife. That way we ensure that our message lives on past us.

Local people have the power to make or break wildlife populations in Australia. In our region, the local people around the You Yangs have regularly taken a stand against mining, development and degradation of nature. They have done this despite low employment, poor job security, and in the face of big money thrown at the region by developers and miners. We seek to give them more reasons to stand up for their wildlife over the long term.

Your presence will help locals understand the importance of wildlife to the international community. After all, our biodiversity belongs to the whole world, not just Australia.

You will also stay at locally-owned accommodation, eat at local restaurants and contribute to the local economy.
