As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.
The landscape is what makes your experience and preserving this is incredibly important to the local economy as well as environmentally. Our local leaders encourage refilling and reusing bottles from the safe water heaters in the hotels to discourage buying of single-use plastic water bottles, which are also actively not distributed.The distance travelled on this trip is substantial, so we use a combination of 15-25 seat coaches and the famous bullet train for the especially long journey from Guilin to Hong Kong. The coaches emit considerably less carbon that the gas-guzzling 40-50 seaters which, when combined with the public train, significantly reduces our carbon footprint. As we're using facilities which are already running, we aren't increasing the carbon emission levels for this part of the journey.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

Working with local leaders and suppliers supports the country's local economy, as well as providing an accurate insight into the culture and traditions of these especially off-the-beaten-track locations of China. This is a very important aspect to all our trips.
Having meals in locally-owned and run restaurants not only provides you with a chance to enjoy true traditional cuisine and hospitality, but it also means your money supports the local community and ensures they have a continued livelihood. This is especially important in the more rural areas we visit and is often cited as one of the big highlights of visiting this part of China.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
