Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Environment
Walking is arguably the greenest form of travel with no carbon footprint. On this walking vacation we hike in the protected environment of the South Downs National Park. Our hikes allow us to explore with minimal impact on the natural world. Only one of the three walks requires a vehicle transfer for a short distance from the end of the hike at Ditchling Beacon back to our hotel.

Our small group size of 16 clients helps to minimise any impact on the local environment. We care passionately about ensuring we have no negative impact on the local landscape, flora and fauna; and our Tour Leaders are trained to consider this in every aspect of the vacation.

As part of our Responsible Travel policy, we advise customers to take reusable water bottles with them on tour. Our local leaders actively do not distribute single-use plastic water bottles. Tap water is safe to drink and they encourage customers to refill their bottles in the hotel.

The Impacts of this Trip

This center-based trip stays in a hotel in the village of Bramber on bed and breakfast basis. The picnic lunches and evening meals will also generate spending in the local economy as well as on any break along each hike in village pubs or cafes we pass.

We plan an included visit to the Wiston Estate winery so people can learn about this increasingly important local industry and more importantly get to try a local English wine. Additionally our guests can buy some of the local wine to take home.

Our Tour Leader will share knowledge about the local history and culture to help gain a deeper understanding of the destination, including a visit to the remains of a pre-historic hill fort at Chanctonbury Ring. The trail follows an ancient route that has been used for millennia, as animals and goods were transported between the market towns of the region.
