As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWe subscribe to the mission statements of “Responsible Travel” organizations and invite you to take part in this mission with us. Every ride is an ecosystem that needs to be protected to be enjoyed. Nature gives us everything free – we put it at the heart of our company.
The Alentejo region is a wonderful and peaceful part of our country, a sparsely populated region, outside major cities - where nature is the dominant presence. Respect it, and leave nothing behind but bike tire marks: We invite you to fully explore the nature surrounding you, and help protect it, by reducing water use in your tour, not leaving trash and residues unattended and minimize damage to the environment, wildlife and marine ecosystems. Download our app, in which you can experience all the aspects of your tour, avoiding unnecessary printing of any documents and tapping into the power of your smartphone in order to fully experience our tours. In our app, you’ll also find further pre-trip information on the social and political situation in each destination and suggestions of ways to minimize negative impacts on local cultures.
As this is a cycling vacation it is by nature a low carbon vacation.
PeopleAs riders, we understand the blessing that is exploring the great outdoors and being in touch with nature. We feel that we, who explore the world’s trails and backroads, have a greater sense of communion with nature, local cultures and people we encounter along the way. And as a company, we are also aware that we must give back to nature and local communities to keep this relation sustainable so that we can fully enjoy it.
Alentejo is a very special place, where time passes by at a slower pace, one might think. Locals have mild manners and are easy-going, as long as we don't rush them! They will spot a townsman at the distance from their natural pace and manners, so it's us - the visitors - that should adapt and slow down. Be friendly and greet locals you'll find along your way, with a smile and a "Bom dia!" - good day in Portuguese - and you'll fit right in!
On this bike tour, you’ll always be accompanied by local guides, as we understand this enhances the experience and adds to the authenticity of your visit. We also choose local suppliers, accommodations and restaurants, that employ locally and help better transmit the feeling, gastronomy and cultures of the region in which you are traveling. We also invite you to support these local communities with your business, so that they can live out their traditions, cultures, and immaterial patrimony for many years to come.
