A focus of this tour is to witness nature at its finest and that includes a visit to the celebrated Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre. The entry fee we pay goes straight back into the center itself to pay for things such as rehabilitation treatment, equipment needed, as well as pay the staff who help to protect these close relations of ours.

Our local leaders assist with encouraging to refill reusable water bottles from the container in the back of the vehicle, as well as at water refill stations and rest stops at restaurants. This actively reduces the amount of single-use bottles purchased and distributed.

As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.

People

Sitting down to break bread with the Dusan people is a fantastic way to interact with locals, but also get to know and understand more about their customs, traditions and skills. Furthermore, it is equally beneficial to them to help with their English and to provide financial support to the local community.

The optional visit to the Mari Mari Village just outside of Kota Kinabalu is an opportunity to witness the indigenous side of ancient Borneo. Visiting helps to preserve this slowly fading way of life by providing an industry and and supporting the maintenance of the village.
