Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
On all of our small group tours, including this one, we provide guests with refillable water bottles. We actively discourage guests from using single use plastic, and instead promote using the refillable bottle throughout their trip, and long after their trip is over. The hope is that they will no longer feel the need to buy single plastic bottles in the future, thereby reducing both their carbon footprint and helping to reduce the plastic burden on landfills, oceans and other places where plastic waste ends up.All transport on our trips is kept to an absolute minimum to reduce our carbon footprint. The majority of the holistic wellbeing retreat relies on human-powered transportation as guests walk to and from their destinations. One of the few journeys in which transport is necessary is the transport to CAT, the Centre for Alternative Technology. Guests will spend their time at the world renowned eco-center learning all about greener ways of living, organic gardens, experimental green buildings and sustainably managed woodland habitats.

We’re passionate about supporting the local community, it’s something we ensure is at the center of everything we do. We make sure to work solely with local, independent business partners whose shares our values in supporting the local community. While it is often a challenge to find employment in rural areas of Wales, we ensure all of the partners on our Holistic Wellbeing Retreat are local, from your yoga instructor and stand up paddle boarding guides, to your sound bathing leader and caterers. All of our employees and partners are paid a fair wage so that they can continue to provide work in their local communities, and as a result the people in the local communities can continue to afford housing in their area. All of our groups are kept small to avoid overwhelming local communities, making sure we are not putting unsustainable pressure on the community’s resources and infrastructure. Attracting large groups of people in summer months, and none in winter months, may mean that small businesses cannot survive the whole year. Our group tours are kept small for this very reason. Alongside this, it also means that the guests are able to enjoy an authentic experience. In addition to this, and perhaps most importantly, it will go a long way in ridding the commercial imbalance that overtourism can cause.
