As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetOur local leaders provide a large water container in the back of the vehicle to refill reusable water bottles, to replace unnecessary single-use plastic bottles being distributed or sold elsewhere. This container is refilled constantly to ensure it is available and accessible throughout the trip.
A focus of this tour is to witness nature at its finest and that includes a visit to UNESCO Biosphere and National Park Tanjung Puting. The park hosts an Orangutan Research and Conservation Program which is directly supported by the admission and accommodation fees.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
PeopleThe stop to visit and share lunch with a Dayak tribe is an opportunity to experience and gain further understanding about the indigenous side of Indonesian-Borneo. Visiting helps to preserve this slowly fading way of life by providing an industry and an opportunity to demonstrate unique skills and the making handicrafts which can be purchased.
Visiting small, independent and locally-owned restaurants is an integral part of our itinerary, and this means money goes into the local economy and community. In addition, this provides an authentic Indonesian-Borneo meal experience.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
