Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

We are passionate about encouraging our travelers, whether traveling virtually or in person, to be kind to the environment. Each participant receives advice about how to care for the environment including reducing water usage, how to avoid single use plastic, and electricity usage. We are striving for all of our projects to be free of single use plastic, and encourage volunteers to join us at home to achieve this goal.
Reducing carbon emissions
The wonderful thing about this online project is that there are no carbon emissions. Staying at home and volunteering means that you will protect the planet and help an inspirational charity, but also gain that cultural immersion into life in Portugal. It's a win-win situation!
Planting a tree for you
For each volunteer that joins us, whether online or in person, we plant a tree in Africa. These trees are then used within local communities to create a sustainable future for local people, as well as promoting their environment.
The Impacts of this Trip
Helping local people
This project has been established to help charities in Portugal to achieve their aims. These charities help both people and animals, and are mainly focussed on combating poverty, homelessness and loneliness. Without this project, many charities would not have been able to achieve the necessary basics during the coronavirus pandemic.
Investing in the local community
Whilst this project is operated remotely, part of the funds paid will go towards employing local people. This includes the project coordinators who will be supporting you remotely, but extra funds are also allocated to employing people who were previously homeless to help maintain the property that is rented in Portugal. Funds are allocated to supporting small businesses such as Wonky Fruit - which sells fruit and veg that has been rejected by the supermarkets because they don't "look right". This not only avoids food waste but also supports a vital start up business.
Supporting local charities in hard times
During the coronavirus pandemic, it has been essential not to let the community and our charity partners feel abandoned. This volunteer project has enabled charities to maintain their important work, keep positive and have a vision for the future.
