Description of Turkey vacation
Check dates, prices & availability
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetFethiye is a beautiful part of Turkey, often referred to as Turkish Riviera. Crystal clear waters, secluded beaches and turquois bays are breathtaking. No wonder it attracts a vast number of travelers. To ensure we treat this beautiful environment well, we travel in a small group of maximum 12 passengers (8-9 on average).
On an included boat tour around the natural harbour, a smaller group size means we can take a smaller boat. That, in return, allows us to reach places unavailable for bigger tourist boats. It allows us to swim where no one else can, sunbathe on the beaches of small, inhabited islands and enjoy such places as Cleopatra Baths, Yassica Island and Bedri Rahmi Cove.
We will also take time to visit Dalyan Sea Turtle Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. As more than half of the population of Green Sea Turtles is nesting in Turkey, it is important to support such places. Sea Turtle Rescue Centre is set up for year-round activity, educating locals as well as travelers about conservation practices and providing necessary medical treatment and rehabilitation to all injured turtles found along the Mediterranean coast. You will have a chance to listen to the short lecture while visiting the center. We will also donate to the center on behalf of each passenger in the group.
In an effort to reduce single-use plastic during this trip we provide reusable cloth bags to all of our travelers. It’s easy to use plastic excessively, especially during the warmer months. However, we encourage our travelers to buy large 5-10 litre bottles to refill their smaller water bottles. We have also introduced water refill stations in most of our hotels where you can pay to refill your existing water bottle. A reusable bottle is highly recommended on this trip.
PeopleOn this trip, we visit small cafes and restaurants and buy locally produced crafts and fresh produce. This gives locals the opportunity to earn money directly and our travelers the chance to interact with them. On the walk from Kayakoy (where our hotel is based) to Oludeniz Beach, a world-famous lagoon that is often listed among the top beaches in the world, you will have a chance to meet a several local vendors, street artists and small local cafes. Best way to support local communities is to engage by drinking a delicious Turkish coffee or buying a small, authentic souvenir from those people.
It is also important to mention that all aspects of this trip (on the ground) are operated by Turkish locals including all our leaders, vehicle drivers, local site guides and accommodation providers.
For your last evening of this retreat, you’ll take part in a Turkish meze cooking class at your hotel. Using all the organic and natural ingredients from the in-house garden, our friends will present the local way of preparing these absolutely delicious appetizers. Have a go and try to prepare some of these yourself before enjoying all the dishes as a farewell dinner with the group.
