1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Seeing sloths and monkeys in the beautiful rainforest.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Leave room open for opportunities to do things you didn’t plan in advance.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I was personally thanked very enthusiastically for coming to Costa Rica and helping the tourism industry.
I addition, I spent a day volunteering.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Amazing. Ricardo “got me” and the hotels and excursions were a perfect match to the way I like to travel.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

In this tour, we will be covering the Central/Southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica and some highlights of the Central Valley. Costa Rica's Central Pacific is home to Olive ridley sea turtles, Scarlet macaws, Howler, Red-Backed Squirrel, Spider and White Face monkeys, sloths, toucans and the red-eyed leaf frog amongst many others. It is our commitment to helping spread the importance of preserving the local wildlife through cooperation with certified bodies and guides in Manuel Antonio National Park, Baru's Wildlife Reserve and the Playa Hermosa/Punta Mala wildlife refuge. We will also contribute towards reducing our ecological footprint and respecting the ecological carrying capacity by being a group of 6 people.

We are also part of the global team fighting against the use of plastics and we will make you aware of this from minute 1. In the online material (yes, we do not waste paper either) we will provide you with once onboard, you will have our responsible travel tips, where you will be encouraged to bring your own water bottle or get one once you arrive. Straws, plastic bags and wrapped fruit (they are naturally wrapped!) are also banned from this tour. Do not worry, Costa Rica has some of the best water quality on the continent allowing you to drink its tap water. Additionally, this country is also blessed with some of the tastiest fruit ever! We will only be careful with certain fruits like pineapples so we make sure they come from small scale producers and not "giants" who care very little about the environment and their people.

We will be separating our waster at our accommodation so we can recycle. This is something Costa Rica still needs to catch up with so spreading the word of its importance amongst locals might be a good idea!

People

The first thing we are going to do is teach you some useful phrases in Spanish (you can also study a bit before coming). We are sorry "amigos" but you are the visitors and you should be the ones doing the effort to try and adapt. The same goes for things like food - We will be there to try local dishes (that's the whole point). No need to say we will be always going to small/ locally owned business. We must make sure the money we spend stays and benefits the local community. Tourism is one of the main drivers for Costa Rica's economy but money does not always go to the right hands or stays within the country.

As previously mentioned, the guides we work with are always "local guides", so they know what they're talking about and know how to move within their areas. Furthermore, we will be taking you to a truly family-run coffee production based on the principles of sustainability.

We will also be collaborating with Jaco Impact, a local NGO that is trying to improve both the environmental and social fabric of the Jaco area; a very popular tourist destination that has been affected negatively by our industry. They run different initiatives, from cleaning beaches to teaching languages to local kids and we might in exchange a yoga session!
