Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

We're proud to operate inline with The Programme of the Finnish Government, for a ‘Inclusive and competent Finland – a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable society’. Plus taking into account, Finland's Arctic Strategy, driving sustainable development in the Arctic, which has set sustainable tourism as one of its priorities. We also strive to adhere to the four priorities that will facilitate the sustainable growth and renewal of the tourism sector in Finland - first priority being supporting sustainable development of which forms the basis of our Finland Winter Wilderness Adventure.

The itinerary touches on all dimensions of sustainability (ecological, cultural, social and economic) and has been carefully crafted by a local Finnish tourism operator who has recently gained an MBA in Tourism & Event Management which included the most innovative best practices in the field of Sustainable Tourism and responsible trip management.

One of the elements of this trip to help the planet is that we strive to minimising plastic waste wherever possible and will provide all our travelers with a complimentary Water-To-Go bottle on departure.

In June 2023 as an adventure travel operator we received the Travelife Partner level award which recognises our long-term efforts regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

We comply with more than 100 criteria, related to an operator’s office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife Partner level standard is covering the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labour relation. Travelife is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector. More than 35 national travel associations are promoting the scheme to their members including, SMAL, APAVT, UHPA, ANVR, ABTA, PATA and more.

People

Visit Finland and 60 other Finnish tourism companies and regions, together with ourselves as a adventure travel operator, have signed the Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism in June 2022.

The declaration provides a framework that which brings together all operators in the tourism industry around these shared commitments in five different ways: measuring and reducing CO2 emissions, reforming policies, increasing cooperation, and securing funding needed for development.

Visit Finland wants to do its part in achieving these goals, and our strategy is guiding us towards an inclusive and professional industry as well as a holistically sustainable travel destination that will be carbon-neutral by 2035. This itinerary includes 4 days of human powered activities - back country skiing and snowshoeing, which helps reduce the CO2 emissions from this adventure.

Finland's tourism product is sensitive to the effects of the warming climate. It must be safeguarded as we want traveling to be possible also in the future. The development of low-carbon travel options, experiences, and destinations must be secured. This is where people make the difference and how we create and host our adventures to maximise the safeguarding of this pristine Arctic wilderness.
