Description of Colombia tour, highlights
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
Our partners behind this vacation promote inclusivity on all their trips and across their business and we are all committed to ensuring travelers face no discrimination on any part of the trip they control.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWe encourage our clients to learn more about the cultures, traditions and way of life of the local people as well as explore and respect their surrounding environment. When out on tour we encourage learning about the country we are traveling in, the local culture of the people we work with and the areas we pass through. Our local Colombian guides conduct detailed briefing meetings and informal talks with clients to inform about and discuss with them all aspects of local life and try to answer any questions clients may have about the local area. This helps our clients to understand the country more and to better appreciate the lives of the people who live there. We encourage everyone to learn some Spanish before they come on tour so as to be able to communicate with local people, even at a basic level.
By staying in local homes and small locally owned hotels as much as possible, we are able to make a direct economic input into local communities. We enable interaction with local people through community activities and other events thus enabling our clients to meet and get to know people from the area.
All our specialist guides are local people and they are treated and paid fairly. Where possible, food is purchased locally and we encourage cooking with local products. We ask everyone to bring donations of clothing and other items to present to local community projects we visit thus directly benefitting local people.
PeopleWe organise and promote socially and culturally aware travel, and strongly believe that our trips provide a unique and authentic way to be involved with local people when traveling. Our trips are organised through a wide network of local representatives, guides, teachers, travel and accommodation providers, all of whom facilitate getting to know the local scene beyond the mainstream tourist trails. By operating locally, we are able to actively contribute to the local economy.
We include accommodation in a small, locally owned hotels as far as possible on this tour to ensure that monies are spent at a very local level so that we are able to directly contribute to the local economy. We encourage our clients to have some Spanish language skills, even at a basic level, so that they are able to communicate with people they meet on their tour.
We support local Colombian businesses in every aspect of our trips - accommodation, transport, meals, drinks and activities - thus contributing directly to the local economy and community. We also regularly organise donations for local schools and educational projects. We recommend that clients consider donations of items such as toiletries, baby and childrens clothing for projects we support.
