Small group tour:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week vacation, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetThe environment is what makes your experience, and maintenance of this will have a long-term positive impact. Our local leaders encourage refilling and reusing bottles with the safe tap drinking water and local springs where available to discourage buying of single-use plastic water bottles.
Traveling through the remote villages of Korea provide us with the great opportunity to not only enjoy the scenery, but also the cuisine. Due to their isolated locations, all dishes are made with their own locally-grown seasonal ingredients.
We pride ourselves with getting off the beaten track, and this means we stay in remote locations where all the restaurants use their local and seasonal produce, to create traditional Bulgarian dishes.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
PeopleOne of the reasons we prefer to use local tour leaders is so they can give a real insight into the culture and history of this charming country by sharing their own stories and experiences.
During this nine day trip, we explore a vast array of regions, with a focus of getting off the main tourist trail. Your tour leader will make local restaurant and shop recommendations for you to not just try the Bulgarian cuisine, but also to ensure your money goes into the smaller communities as well.
The cultural heritage of Bulgaria is prominent in their elaborate collection of churches and monasteries, and some we visit are registered UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Through our in-country agent, donations are made to help preserve and maintain these iconic and economically significant structures.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
