Small group tour:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week vacation, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetOn this cultural and active vacation we visit a variety of different protected environments in North Wales, including two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Anglesey and on the Llyn Peninsula, as well as the Snowdonia National Park. Our Tour Leader will explain more about the marine and bird life that we can spot on this trip and well as the cultural history of the area and relevance to local life nowadays.
The boat provider that we use for the rib ride around Anglesey was one of the first in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Blue Flag status, demonstrating their commitment to sustainable operation.
As part of our Responsible Travel policy, we advise customers to take reusable water bottles with them on tour. Our local leaders actively do not distribute single-use plastic water bottles. Tap water is fine to drink and we encourage customers to refill their bottles at the hotel each day and the Leader will explain other places where this is possible while out on visits.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
PeopleThis center-based trip stays in a small hotel in the Caernarvon. This helps ensure that our trips benefits the economy directly where we stay. In addition to this we have chosen to offer the trip on a bed and breakfast basis so that, with the assistance of our local tour leader's knowledge, you can dine out in evenings and help support some of the many restaurants close by the hotel where typical local fare is served.
In fact, our local partner is based in the region and only uses independently-owned hotels, local drivers and tour leaders. Through our partnership you can be sure that financial benefit from this trip will be going directly into the local economy of the places in which you will travel.
The tour is designed to encompass a wide variety of rich Welsh heritage, from the Anglesey sea salt factory to a trip through Snowdonia's slate mine heritage, to a visit to a small craft brewery on the Llyn Peninsula. Our Tour Leader will ensure that you learn about the local industries in Wales, old and new, and have the opportunity to spend money in locally-owned businesses and craft centers along the way.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
