Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Cycling trips in general have a minimal impact on the environment, erosion on and adjacent to popular paths is a growing problem in certain places and therefore our trip leaders encourage clients to stick to advised routes in order to minimise this.
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy, whereby we ensure no rubbish including plastic has been left behind in the places we visit. Clients are briefed on managing food waste on cycling days - litter can be collected by guide in support vehicle and disposed of appropriately, in respect of local recycling policies. To reduce our dependency on single use plastics, we also encourage our guests to pack a reusable water bottle which can be refilled throughout the trip.
Group Size:
This is a small group tour, meaning that we have a low impact on the environments and communities we visit and are able to ensure that we do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people. The small number also allows us to stay in unique, family-run hotels that cannot benefit from coach tours and other mass tourism due to their limited sizes.
UK Office:
It all starts at home where we work towards reducing our carbon footprint in our offices through engergy conservation measures, recycling policies and the promotion of cycling and walking as a means for our staff to commute. Our head office has become a plastic-free zone with the use of plastic bottles being banned in our head office and we distributed reusable water bottles and tote bags to every staff member. We also support a large number of community and environmental projects in different parts of the world and try to give something back to the places we visit.
The Impacts of this Trip
Accommodation & Meals
On this tour we will spend 7 nights in small 3-star hotels. All accommodation is locally owned and staffed, which provides employment and income alternatives for many locals. Where meals are provided, there is a focus on using locally sourced produce and traditional ingredients in locally run establishments.
For meals that are not included, clients are encouraged to eat in authentic, family-run restaurants that showcase the best of Italian cuisine prepared from local produce and to ensure the local communities financially benefit from our visit.
Community & Culture
This tour is packed with culture: we visit the cities of Lucca and Florence and cycle around the most iconic places in Tuscany. Despite this being a cycling trip, guests are able to experience the Italian culture and witness some famous Italian sights including Piazza dei Cavalieri, the Baptistery and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Guests can also opt to book a visit inside the tower to learn more about the beautiful architecture.
The trip is designed to allow a high degree of economic benefit to the local communities. We encourage guests to interact with local people and support the communities we visit by stopping off at local cafes and bars to discover the Tuscan life and purchase local gifts and produce. By purchasing these products, we are supporting the local community by giving back to small street vendors and sustaining their work.
