Memorable parts? So much: seeing Dolphins, Basking sharks, Minky whale, otter, seals. Making new friends and experiencing 5* dining Tips? You will need good mobility as daily explorations can be over rough terrain. Take good midgy repellent and creams. Local benefits? All animal sightings where recorded and reported back to a central database. Remote isles benefited from additional spend on their produce Overall rating? Both my sister and I loved this vacation.... Memorable parts? Traveling without a car made us travel with less, slow down, and engage more with people around us. So we had a wonderful time meeting people from Scotland and all over, which was great. Tips? Recognize that you'll spend a bit more time getting between places than you otherwise might, so let go of the rush to "get there". And pack light. Local benefits? We were in small hotels except for the extra nights we added in cities, and staying in small towns. So... (more)Mark Gurvis

We had a great time - relaxing, some beautiful experiences (beaches, hills, islands and all the above animals). We were in bed every night by 9.30pm - tired but blissfully comfortable after a day spent exploring. (more)Jayne Obeng
Perfect!....The best thing about the vacation was having no internet connection & very little mobile coverage. It made it a total break away & allowed us to appreciate everything about the location of cottage & the amazing surrounding area. It was a complete break away which is what a vacation should be. Memorable parts? Being "on the water" was exhilarating! When the weather was good, it was glorious, and when the weather was stormy, it was exciting. Tips? Miminize luggage. Storage space is modest. Layers are necessary. Don't forget the rain gear. Be flexible. Much of the itinerary is dictated by weather and tides. The vacation providers office staff are very kind to help with arrangements. Try to take time before/after the cruise to visit Oban and Tobermory. Lovely towns. Local... (more)Sue Ellen Christensen

Memorable parts? Hard to chose but probably the time we spent on the Shiants Tips? It's casual and great fun. Local benefits? Spending tourist dollars always helps the economy of these remote communities. As well as seeing superb scenery, we learnt a lot about indigenous wildlife, and the need for conservation to enable the return of bird species. A good example was the successful rat eradication program from the Shiants. This increased our understanding of the issues... (more)Carolyn Coffey

Shakespeares Way & Thames Path walking vacation
From
£595

Memorable parts? During the course of the week one cannot fail to be impressed by the sights seen on the Thames Path, sadly the planned programme didn't allow time to visit these places. Tips? To make sure that the daily walks are within their capabilities, even though the paths are on the level. The Thames path is well maintained but it was noticeable as you approached London, through London and to the east that a number of the signs had been vandalised/pointing in the wrong direction.... South Argyll wildlife cruises in Scotland

Memorable parts? The weather was amazing but even more so were the wonderful crew - Steve, our chef - so inventive and creative. He went out of his way to make sure we all had food we loved, but also stretched our taste buds in the way he cooked and displayed the dishes. Iain our skipper made sure all needs were catered for. For example I made an off-the- cuff remark about another hook in my cabin. When I came back from my walk there it was! Another passenger had difficulty walking- he took... (more)Etta Geras
