Watersports in Valencia Region

Sailing, Valencia. Photo by Valencia Tourist Board With 450 kilometres of coastline, comprised of sandy beaches, rocky coves and wide bays the region is ideal for water sports of all kind, from yachting to windsurfing and kiteboarding to kayaking.

Stable winds between force 2 and 4 for 90 percent of the year, sheltered clear and warm seas with excellent access to beaches, marinas and ports combine to provide perfect conditions for both beginners and experienced surfers and sailors. With plenty of protected bays and coves, calm water can always be found regardless of wind direction and strength.

The coastal towns and resorts have many specialist schools for water sports tuition, equipment and boat hire, with plenty of accommodation available to suit all pockets. For coastal yachtsmen there are many marinas along the coast, and for dinghy sailors and kayakers small ports have areas set aside for their activities, with launching ramps and dedicated parking close by.

Further north in Valencia where the America’s cup was hosted in 2007 and 2008, the excellent port and sailing facilities make an excellent base for exploring the area for yachtsmen and for small cruisers. Yachts and cruisers of all sizes can be chartered here on a bare boat basis for yacht skippers with the required qualifications.
