1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
For us, the highlights of our trip were the many conversations we had with local people - be they guides, staff at the accommodation or cooks sharing their knowledge. Dewalokam was fabulous - the owners and staff went out of their way to ensure that all guests were able to make the most out of their stay. The accompanied walk around the farm, seeing the diversity of spices and crops they were growing (even sesame seeds!) and seeing kingfishers and Brahmini kites while gently canoeing on the river were some of the highlights. Not to mention the hands-on cooking experience that catered for our own tastes.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Consider whether you would want to spend longer in some places. We personally found that 2 nights in each place, often with an early start, meant we felt we were always on the move. Some people don't mind this; we would have preferred an extra night or two at Dewalokum as we didn't have time for some of the village walks. Be prepared for some of the cookery lessons to be demonstrations rather than hands-on.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The cookery experiences and visits to see local crafts benefitted local people.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We had a wonderful time. Our driver and tour operator were both very careful to ensure that everything ran smoothly.Holiday Reviews
