1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Seeing Finland for the first time. It's a great country to visit. A few of the events were spectacular and some were a waste of time.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Don't over book activities. That was our problem,. Watch out for tour companies that overbook you so they can charge you extra for things that you don't want. We felt taken advantage of and did not think things were explained properly.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Sure, every bit a tourist spends in a country benefits that country4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We were overbooked with our activities and once in Finland when we understood this problem it was too late to cancel activities even with advanced notice. When we did have to cancel, our tour operator seemed angry and did not offer even a suggestion of compensation. My suggestion is put the list of activities available and let clients book once there, understanding that by booking close to the activity might limit it's availability. Result is we paid much more for this trip than we needed too. On the plus side the hotels selected were great. My suggestion is book the hotels in advance, but most activities book as you go according to availability, while being mindful that major activities such as getting tickets to an opera need to be secured in advance, while kayaking, biking and meals don't need to be.Read the operator's response here:
We are very sorry if you felt that way. Our itineraries are detailed with all activities pre-listed, and bookings are made according to the approved itinerary and vouchers are sent for each one. It is, unfortunately, too late to start rearranging the itinerary after arrival. Most activities need to be pre-booked, same with bike rentals in high season. I would rather advise to think in advance, how often you want to take activities. The preferences of guests vary a lot in this sense.
