1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Landscape, flora & fauna2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Andros Trail is very well waymarked and maintained, and perfect way to explore almost all of the island. It could be challenging in the heat of high summer3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The Andros Trail clearly attracts visitors from across Europe in numbers that should make a measurable difference to the tourism economy. And this apparently benefits management of the Trail. But I am certain that our vacation, including air travel from the uk and import of food and other services onto the island for e.g. will have had significant adverse impact4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Probably a more sustainable choice of vacation in comparison to the tourism market as a whole - and no vacations is a depressing prospect- but can’t in all honesty describe the product as environmentally benign.Claire Sargent review 17 May 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Every walk was beautiful! Andros was a great island to visit in spring, it was less arid than other Greek islands I've visited, with lots of lush green valleys full of springs, olive and lemon trees, and in late April the characteristic dry-stone walls, hill terraces and meadows of Andros were carpeted with a riot of wildflowers - stunning!2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Late April was a great time to go. It was quite a breezy island while we were there, which was perfect for walking - I'd say it's more of a hiker's island at this time of year than a beachgoer's, though we did manage to swim in the sea once! Navigation was easy - the walking paths on Andros were the best way-marked routes I have ever seen - we barely even needed to use the very comprehensive maps, guide and GPS app that the company provided.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It was nice to be part of a sustainable walking initiative on the island - we even did a bit of weeding of the paths. We stayed in very well-kept, spotlessly clean guesthouses, studios and small hotels that felt like very welcoming family businesses.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We really enjoyed this vacation, the walking was very enjoyable and the island was teeming with life - wall lizards everywhere, wildflowers, bees, butterflies etc. Andros is very peaceful and far less touristy than many Greek islands, which suited us perfectly, but if you're looking for something more touristy, it might not. The trails were very quiet, we never saw more than a handful of other hikers on most days. Would definitely recommend, and go back to Greece for more walking vacations in future!Tina Ruffle review 16 May 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Seeing a flock of about 50 bee-eaters darting through the air as I walked uphill through the sun on green hills with blue skies. Breathtaking scenery.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Always do more uphill work outs than you think you need - some of the inclines are brutal especially if the heat picks up and the wind dies down.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes it felt that the framework set up on the island was directly assisting the local people. Without walkers I have a feeling there wouldn't have been any tourists there on the island as even we were few and far between.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Excellent trip... probably shocked a few years off my life with near misses on standing on snakes but the green hills and constant springs and churches were beautiful. The hotels and the people were really welcoming and helpful.Debbie Foster review 28 Oct 2020
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We particularly liked the day 3 walk from Korthi to Chora. The walking was demanding but the views were spectacular and it was a good combination of villages and countryside. We also enjoyed the Chora to Batsi walk.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Ask about the hotels and the places you are staying. All our hotels were fine, basic and simple but there must be alternatives if you want something a bit better. Check the location - the first place we stayed was over 1km from the town and up a very steep hill. Also, if you’re traveling out of high season, ask what will be open. At our last stop, there was only a pizzeria open and we wanted Greek food.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We definitely did our bit for the local economy, if only because there were no other tourists there, presumably because of the pandemic. We also did a bit of pruning of vegetation overhanging the paths.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was a very enjoyable 10 days, with stunningly beautiful walking. All the pensions we stayed at were lovely and the proprietaires very friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this trip but would encourage potential bookers to thoroughly check where they are staying.Holiday Reviews
