Standing next to the Pyramids of Giza and the pylons of Karnak Temple and being dwarfed by them.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
You're in for a treat. You'll need to get up early to avoid the crowds but it will be worth it.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. We avoided all transport that avoided ill-used donkeys, horses and camels, and visited ACE, the charity that provides veterinary care to them.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

All of it! Pyramids, cruise on the Nile, dinner with Nubian family, hot air balloon ride, our group and most of all our guide.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The Animal Care Egypt ACE, which we visited, certainly benefits local people as it educates in animal care and provides a sanctuary for injured farm animals.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Not hugely as recycling not done in Egypt but I bought a lot from local people, and we visited an animal sanctuary.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It is mind boggling how many temples, pyramids, tombs, obelisks, and other antiquities there are in Egypt - and how well preserved they are! Walking where kings and pharaohs lived 4000BC is just incredible.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Wear comfortable shoes. Sunscreen is a must! Bring body lotion - the air is very drying. You might also want to bring a few washcloths. Bring lots of small bills for tips, water, bathrooms. Avoid the overnight train - so, so, so unclean.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The tourism industry in general supports the local people. I don't believe that our vacation reduced environmental impact or supported conservation - other than perhaps our visit to an animal sanctuary. There are so, so many things that are needed to support environmental impact - starting with ways to clean up streets in major cities and offering support and resources to education efforts.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Yes, although I didn't agree with the company policy on avoiding eg horse-drawn transport (and other animal-related matters). I'm also not sure that taking an internal flight can be said to 'reduce environmental impacts' but this has never bothered me. The benefit to local people was enormous (and very important).4. Check weather forecasts traveling in January it was colder, especially at night, than I was anticipating.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Apart from the 3 internal air flights that obviously have an environmental impact it felt as if we mainly used local businesses, and there was a visit to an animal charity hospital.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
