1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

I just came back from my trip to Ladakh. My trip was about photographing and learning from the locals, monks, nomads and the nature that I encountered in Ladakh. In order to make it possible , I needed my own driver and guide during the trip so that I could stop anywhere and anytime I want and do my photography. That's how I met my team, the Buddhism specialist guide Dr.Wangchuk and the driver Mr.Stanzin Nawang. Dr.Wangchuk was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions about the history, stories and art of not only Buddhism but also Ladakh. It helped me with diving into the ocean of Buddhism and understanding, learning and feeling it in myself. Thanks to him, I also had opportunities to speak to monks, locals and nomads which I've really wanted. He was also be able to check my health when I had fever and breathing problem. It helped me and made me relieved to just have him by my side. The driver Mr. Nawang was awesome too. He was friendly, warm hearted and communicative. Above all, we could say he was in charge of our safety on the toughest road in the world and he did a great job. At the end of the trip, we got to have strong and powerful bond together which was truly beautiful. Plus, before, during and after my trip, I communicated every detail with Mr. Gaurav at the local company. He was respectful, professional and very communicative during the whole procedure. Thanks to him, I was able to plan my trip in a way that reflects my special needs and budget. I recommend this tour and 'Responsible travel' if you're looking for a customized trip. They will ensure you a great experience.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Cultural experiences with the local guide and homestay families, in the beautiful buddhist monasteries and with the changpa nomads near lake Tso Moriri. Ended the tour on a high at the local Taktok festival.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Take lip salve! Wear a covering over your face in the dry areas. Don’t forget a hat.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We had a local young female guide part of a company aiming to improve opportunities for women in the area. We also stayed with local families in homestays rather than hotels.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Very good if you are looking for a cultural experience and to spend time with local people. Great communication from Gaurav throughout. We felt very safe and looked after by our local guides Tsirin and Stanzen, as well as our driver. We had the chance to personalise our tour. Delicious local food.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Definitely the scenery. It was something we haven’t seen before. The landscape is beautiful with the mountains and lakes. We also enjoyed staying with the nomads, to get a glimpse into their everyday life and culture. We have to say Ladakh was breathtaking.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Enjoy the nature, talk with local people and pack some warm clothes as it might get chilly.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, we think it benefited the local economy as we visited places not many tourists go to. We tried to be as environmentally friendly as we could.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We would rate it 5/5. Everything was great. The itinerary was great and we liked we could adjust it a bit. We enjoyed every moment of the trip, from driving over mountain passes, talking with nomads, petting the animals to walks around lakes and mountains. We also have to thank again our driver Sonam and the magnificent guide Dolma for taking care of us. They made sure we are safe, answered every question we had about India, Ladakh, the people living there and their culture. Both made sure we had freshly cooked lunch and dinner every day (Dolma is a great cook, don’t believe when she tells she is not??). Also their engagement made this trip unforgettable.
