1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

All of Bhutan was beautiful and peaceful. Fewer people , fewer tourist so one could enjoy the temples, and the history . Guide was excellent

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The politics of Tibet and the hordes of people take away from the potential beauty and peace. One should spend less time in Tibet and more time Bhutan. One still learns of the Buddhist way of lving and the history of the area as it developed through time. Do not go at anytime when China is on vacation. Thousands of people come to Tibet and the crowds take over.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

In Tibet I do not feel that we benefitted the local people at all. We did not go to any cottage crafts. In Bhutan however we visited several craft sites. Again do not go during a school vacation because many of the craft schools are closed. This trip was a typical tour and we stayed at typical hotels and ate at typical restaurants. Unfortunately one is not permitted to tour without a guide so one is limted in what one can see. In the Himalaya camp we obviously supported the local people. Our tent was fine, the food good but again the area overcrowded. Dont go during the Chinese vacation season.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Nevertheless the operator set us up with very good touring companies and our two guides were excellent. They both had a wealth of knoweldge and cleary valued their country and its traditions. One major suggestion is that instead of having four days of 8hour driving ( it says six but with taffic etc it is 8 ) they should allow us to stay overnight in local villages to get a sense of the country side, contribute to local people and at the same time get a break from the long drives. I still give it a 4 star rating because I learned so much about that region.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Definitely the most intriguing country is Tibet: the faces of the people, the scenery, Lhasa, EBC.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

A visit to Pokhara in Nepal is worth the 7-8 hour drive only if you go trekking.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The wise policies of Bhutan, with the fixed-fee daily rate for tourists (and the royalty supporting local culture, education and environment) make you feel that you are supporting local people ans sustainable tourism.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

A great vacation, with the right mix of nature, culture, social. Definitely recommend.
