1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We enjoyed all of it, from the stunning temples and palaces to the rural village life. But if I had to name some highlights, I would choose the following: The temple at Somnathpur; Meenakshi Temple (both the evening ceremony and the daytime tour); the rickshaw ride in Madurai with our driver taking us through the banana market and then an impromptu visit to a small Hindu temple celebrating a festival; the food at The Bangala in Karaikudi; our stay at Dewalokam; and the trip to the fishing village near Kochi.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
If you have the time, spend an extra night in some of the cities and do the extra trips to visit the temples and small villages outside. These were some of our most memorable parts.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes in that we stayed in several homestays and an organic farmstay, owned and operated by local people. Our driver was a local, as were the guides. And all the accommodation provided filtered water and discouraged the use of plastics.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
The whole trip was very well organised and well thought out. There was a good mix of cities, hill station and countryside, and also the activities were very varied. The pace was perfect - usually the local sightseeing took place in the morning and we had free time in the afternoon, which was much appreciated as it was quite hot. We really felt that we got a good flavour of Southern India and would definitely recommend this operator for organising the trip but also for their care and attention they provided throughout the duration of our vacation.Holiday Reviews
