1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

It is quite difficult to pick one moment or experience, Jordan is an amazing country which just gives and gives. The sounds, sights and people combine to make it unique: from the desert to the bustling town with historical sites interspersed, modern and ancient are part of it all. Learning from our local group leader - the stories of history explained from the other side - opened our eyes to so much. Thoroughly loved each moment and was sad to say goodbye

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Make sure your footwear is comfortable over all terrains. Layers are vital as temperatures vary depending on location.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes to benefiting local people. Reducing environmental impacts and supporting conservation are harder to quantify although several of our group participated in collecting plastic rubbish in a couple of locations which seemed to please the local people we were with at that time, notably the Bedouin in the desert.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Wonderful - recommending to others.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

This is a hard question as there were so many fantastic parts including Petra and Wadi Rum but I think the city of Jerash was a real surprise to me. The scale of the ancient city was astonishing and absolutely worth a visit. Jerash alone was worthy of a full day I think.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

I would say pack layers. It was really cold during our trip. We knew this from the weather forecast but it still surprised us. It is really cold at night in the desert so pack appropriately. My other advice would be read up on your history if you're not already a history buff or biblical scholar. I think having a deeper understanding of the role the places you visit on this vacation played in world history and religion will add another dimension to your visit. I certainly appreciated the biblical references from my Sunday School days.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes and no. I felt that we supported local hotels and restaurants and tours and it was an affordable trip. We also had the opportunity to support local businesses when buying souvenirs etc. I also think that we tried to limit our personal environmental impact by not drinking bottled water where possible and using a canvas bag etc. I was shocked however by the plastic pollution in Jordan even in the remote parts of Wadi Rum. We mentioned this to our guide and I would like to see companies like Responsible Travel trying to have influence over the government etc and also their providers such as hotels, restaurants etc. Clearly the plastic pollution has a terrible impact on the environment but then that also feeds through to the tourism industry. I appreciate that that is a global issue but I was shocked at the levels of plastic litter compared with other countries where I have travelled recently in Africa and Asia.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was a great trip. There was so much to see, it felt safe and affordable, the people were friendly and welcoming, our guide was very knowledgeable, the group had a good dynamic and the sights were just incredible - Petra alone was vast and magnificent! So many friends are interested in visiting Jordan and I hope that my pictures and write-up will encourage them to come.
