1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The incredible variety of the land and the beauty and friendliness of the people. It was clear everywhere we went - the Duoro and Madeira, that the people were so proud of their homeland. We fell in love with Portugal again.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be flexible, as the weather sometimes alters plans.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely- our guides and hotels were conscientious.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I enjoyed swimming in the rock pools at Porto Moniz and visiting the little bakery behind a local's house and being given a lovely fresh loaf to take away for my picnic.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
I took a walking pole which helped on any muddy sections of the levada. Pack a long waterproof coat.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We supported local people by visiting them in their workplace as well as eating at restaurants each night and buying things in the shops!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I have been to Madeira a few times but never seen as much as I did on this trip. What a diverse and spectacular island.I loved it all, however, probably the most exciting thing was seeing the bottle nose dolphins & pilot whales on the catamaran trip. Also, our guide - BENNY - was amazing.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Visiting the Rum Factory which was using steam driven equipment to crush sugarcane. The factory was built in 1927 but the equipment was salvaged from 5 other factories. It deserves some research but the equipment had to be built in the late 1800's. To see it in active service was watching history. Afternoon Tea at Reids hotel was also special and did not appear that many other groups were accessing the hotel.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Use the Nike Logo .......... Just Do It! Madeira was fascinating, the food, drinks scenery and the sites we visited were all excellent. The group consisted of two couples and eight single ladies, so be prepared to make friends and explore their experiences and stories they are all interesting.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We ate and drank at local restaurants and bars so we were benefiting the local economy. Any human presence affects the environment from air flight CO2 emissions so I don't think we positively affected the environment.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The amazing mountainous scenery! So much more than I expected.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Take comfortable walking shoes. It is not too strenuous at all, but the island is so mountainous that you can't avoid steep-ish walks sometimes - but it is always worth it! Also be prepared for mosquitoes! I hadn't given them a thought in my preparations, but because it was always warm - and we had quite a few showers - the mosquitoes were about and I had lots of bites!3. Yes to all three. We were shown all over the island, saw the local crafts and the wonderful, and clever levadas.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
For me it was a really good vacation. I think it was very well planned with lots of activities but also free time if you wanted it. An excellent tour with an excellent guide. I was very impressed with the tour operator and would certainly recommend them and travel with them again.Holiday Reviews
