1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The completion of a great long distance walk, the protocols and procedures associated with this pilgrimage, the camaraderie and the beautiful countryside.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

I thought this walk was the right distance to enjoy the culture, language and landscape of two countries. Twelve days of walking was right for me, allowing time to rest and to visit local buildings, viewpoints and villages. I would ask for a higher standard of accommodation in Santiago in order to pamper yourself.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Well the Camino brings in a lot of money to the villages and towns around the walk routes which has to be good for the locals. It is well way-marked and most peregrinos will call in to support churches and local hostelries. Sadly, with (I estimate on average) 1000 walkers a day, some areas of the rural paths are used as public conveniences and are quite disgusting. No fault of the walkers - we are all human - but perhaps some of the income could be used to provide say even dry composting toilets close to the path, even if at every 5Km so walkers know there is a place to stop and can plan. Behind some of the trees and bushes it can be quite distressing, and I am aware there is some resentment of this by the locals.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Absolutely brilliant - amazing to experience such friendliness and camaraderie amongst many walkers from all over the world.
