Use a rucksack with comfortable shoulder straps, and invest in good hiking boots.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely - Mary is knowledgeable about environmental impact and keen that we minimise this; we also stopped in at local coffee shops and outlets along the way.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We benefitted hugely from the valuable and helpful instruction from Mary on the techniques of water colour painting and loved all the wonderful views and environments she took us to for inspiration.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Mary knew these parts like the back of her hand so I felt privileged to be part of a small group being led to some of the most beautiful and remote locations to sketch and paint. It was incredible that with guidance, short exercises, and trying new things that a sketchbook began to fill up making for very special memories. I was excited to learn new ways with composition, colour and techniques and I really enjoyed the company of my fellow sketchers too.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Just do it! I'd just moved home so was worried this was not a well timed break. In fact it was completely the opposite. It was an amazing way to de-stress and recharge.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes without a doubt. I learnt so much from Mary not just about capturing scenes but also how to respect and tread lightly in the locations she shared with us. Mary's passion for preserving the wonderful habitat in and around Lochinvar influenced all aspects of the trip.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
So many memorable times but probably the most memorable was our walk and sketching at the base of Suilven and the day at Handa island. Mary was superb in taking us to remote places that were excellent to sketch and made it all the more special with bringing coffee and particularly yummy sandwiches.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Bring good walking boots and a good midge spray.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes it certainly gave local B&B ‘s business and by visiting the Highland Pottery , Lochinver Pie shop and the local pubs and restaurant, each was getting our custom. Mary was very strong on recycling as much as possible and keeping the vehicles to a minimum. And our visit to Handa island in particular was supporting the RSPB. We were very careful not to leave anything and take all our rubbish home.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The camaraderie between the group the support and learning, the scenery, the food! Mary made all the vegan lunches, they were varied, healthy and very delicious. I feel healthier. So ALL of it!2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Make sure you have good walking boots and poles if you are slightly unsteady or less confident. I would encourage anyone to have a go at painting even if you have just a little experience, as you'll learn loads.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Mary King the very talented artist who takes the group is very conscious of the environment and a view that the whole group shared. Spending time with the local people getting to know them, I hope was a benefit both ways.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
