Reviews for Morocco family vacation, camels & kasbahs

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Stay at the Sahara Desert and a camel ride. Also all the hotels exceeded my expectations.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
It’s not challenging at all so no need really for big hiking boots, or lots of special gear. No mosquitos when we came May/June, WiFi access everywhere, even on the Sahara, prepare for a very dry climate, so lots of water and moisturiser, also sun cream is a must. Shops and stops everywhere, so even if you forget anything, you can buy.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I feel the tour had a good relationship with the local traders met and they definitely benefit from the stops where we could purchase souvenirs. I wasn’t entirely sure about the carpet cooperative as although they said that 80% of profit goes to women I couldn’t see any evidence of this, and there was no way of checking it. I would prefer to have more reassurance that this is the case, rather than believing this is another ‘hoax’ where few men are filling their pockets with huge profits, rather than actually benefiting women who did most of the labour.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was excellent as a family trip. Perfect pace for the kids (11, 15), not too much driving each day (max 4-5 hours with stops), every hotel stay was a surprise and a wow as the facilities were great and all different, food was great, and I was really appreciative of accommodating for my and my kids complicated dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free, kids egg allergy and no beef). It wasn’t easy and food offered limited choice, but so it is when in UK or any other country. Be aware that allergies and vegan diet isn’t understood in Morocco, so it’s best to double check and be patient with mistakes (I was given tuna or egg, as this is what usually vegetarians eat, but vegan was beyond their comprehension, especially in remote places). However if you specify what you want (for example rice instead of cous cous, they are very happy to accommodate and make to order if possible. Our guide Hassan was always making sure to call the restaurant before and specify the requirements and make sure I don't go hungry.Read the operator's response here:
Thank you for taking the time to provide us some feedback. It really does help us should we need to make improvements.
I am so glad Hassan was able to help with the hotels and meal requirements where possible. It can be a challenge at times.
We have used this carpet cooperative for many many years now and have a very good relationship with the whole family. Although they did not show proof
of the womens benefits at the time, I will see if I can find out more information on this from our local team on the ground in Morocco.
We are so pleased to hear that your family had an amazing tour and that the accommodation surprised you!
Thanks again for traveling with us!
