Wear light clothes that cover you in Summer months and don't try to sightsee during the middle of the day3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

If you visit Abu Simbel, stay over … don’t do the day trip from Aswan.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Supported local businesses overall, and walked whenever possible, but difficult to do this type of trip in Egypt in a sustainable manner in Egypt.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Be prepared for early starts. Take lots and lots and lots of Egyptian small currency - more than you think you will need. Everyone expects a tip!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Very good vacation. Outstanding guides: Sayed, in Cairo and Azzaz in Luxor. Helpful support from the ship although the wheelchairs were very narrow. However that was rectified midway through. Too many memorable moments! The Nubian Village; Valley of the Kings; the Temple of Philae; Alexandria; the Great Egyptian Museum, to name just some.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

If you're looking to cut things down, you could miss out Alexandria.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Possibly yes it benefited local people. Those in the Nubian village hopefully benefited from us being there and spending money with them.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We had an amazing time. There was a bit of hanging around on a couple of days and the pre-supplied info wasn't quite correct on some days, but those are very minor points. Overall we felt looked after and had the full Egyptian experience.Jackie Southall review 16 Oct 2025

Visiting the Egyptian Temples and tombs with a knowledgeable local guide. The Nile cruise was also amazing.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Visit Temples either early (sunrise) or late to avoid the crowds and heat. Take local guides advice on when and how to plan your visits.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Benefited local people as the local tour company (Wanderlust) was excellent and employed local people. The eco lodge in Abu Simbel was particularly good.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Several: Hot Air Balloon trip at Sunrise over Valley of the Kings - superb! Seeing the various ancient sites all with the help of a knowledgeable Guide ensuring you didn't miss the key elements nor missed out on the “story” of Ancient Egyptian. Flexibility of the guides to adapt the programme to your needs, including being able to add in other elements on request. The personal support and assistance of the company on the ground to ensure each step of the journey was smooth and seamless. Service levels on the cruise ship - plus not too large so seemed very personal attention and service. I would wish to make particular mention of my guide Sarah (and the driver) in Cairo and Diaa in Aswan - outstanding! Diaa in particular.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be prepared for lots of early starts! There will always be crowds wherever you go regardless of how early you start. Think about how you would like your programme “spaced out” - it’s tiring and doesnt always allow for time to digest what youve seen and done. If traveling during Ramadan (or Eid at end of Ramadan) ensure that youve considered what impact this might have on your programme/choice of hotel etc. Plan ahead to have cash on hand for tipping! You’ll need it!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Other than supporting local people, crafts and trades I am unsure of the credentials of the hotels, cruise ship as to how they seek to reduce their environmental impact or support conservation. I would comment that the use of petrol cars/taxis/mini buses for internal travel would not necessarily lend itself to reducing environmental impact! But im guessing that there are few other choices.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Overall the vacation was very good. The only issue I had was with the choice of hotel in Hurghada. It wasnt quite the restful, peaceful end to my vacation that id sought as a way of recovering from a packed itinerary beforehand. The hotel were helpful in trying to address some of my concerns but in essence they were not going to be able to address the main issue for me which was it was large (over 700 guests), noisy, packed and with not particularly great food. However, i would say that i should have paid more attention to the choice of hotel at the end (or made my likes and dislikes known to the company dealing with my booking) and as such I would not find fault with the company who made the booking or the representative on the ground in Hurghada.
