1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Hiking up to Green Lake (Zelené pleso), surrounded by snow-covered peaks, and then having an excellent authentic lunch with an amazing view on the lake. I am used to beautiful mountain scenery as I grew up in the Alps, but this astonished me all the same. Our local guide made the experience even more enriching and entertaining.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Expect any weather - there was plenty of fresh snow on most hikes (in the middle of May). No need to pack heavy coats, but do pack multiple layers and a waterproof outfit (jacket, trousers, shoes). The difficulty level is easy-medium: no major challenge if you are used to 10-15 km hikes.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
All parts of this vacation were driven by local people, from the accommodation to the experiences (hiking and rafting). The environmental impact on site is fairly minimal - just driving around in ordinary cars (as our group was very small).4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Truly amazing experience and heart-warming encounters. I really enjoyed the food as well - it is much more varied than one might expect from a Central European country. Very few tourists in the middle of May. I think this is a perfect time for those hikes in High Tatras, the slightly cooler weather is a blessing. I would definitely like to come back to Slovakia for another tour with this company.Peter Mosley review 26 May 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Hikes in the high Tatras, and the Tatra mountain tramway2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Don't be misled by the 'Easy to Moderate' tag - some of the walks, while not long, were quite strenuous with steep ascents/descents over very rocky terrain. Compared to other companies grading, I would label these as moderate.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - we stayed in a small independent pension and ate in local restaurants. The ecological regulations (eg no swimming in lakes) were clearly explained.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Generally excellent. The leader and guide went out of her way to help, including arranging individual transport to and from the train station. Personally, as a solo traveler, I found time in the late afternoons/evenings sometimes hung a bit heavy, and would have welcomed more structure at these times. Of course, I knew this was likely before I booked so can't complain. But next time I might look for a vacation with evening meals included.Jade Amias review 24 May 2024
