1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Stunning walks where we hardly saw another person.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The bakeries in Dalaro and on Utö are good and it's worth getting a filled roll to enjoy on the walks. Stay a couple of extra nights in Stockholm at the end of the tour so you can see more of the city, especially Scansen and the Vasa & Abba museums.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Eating out every evening supported local businesses and the environmental impact was reduced by utilising local buses and ferries.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Excellent.Steve Coates review 19 Jul 2026
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
All was good. We particularly enjoyed several of the walk sections along the coastlines of some of the islands which were beautiful and very quiet with few walkers. The trip to the small outer island of Huvudskar was very memorable. This was on a lovely calm, sunny day - (not sure what it would have been like in poor weather).2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Some of the trails are very rocky and so were tougher than the basic distance and elevation change figures would suggest.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not particularly - vacation was in a prosperous area, well developed for local tourism.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Very good - Well organised, enjoyable walks, fantastic scenery (and weather). The hotel in Stockholm was less ideal - the days we were there it was hot, so it needed windows open for sleeping (no ac) and there was significant noise from the street (particularly night time and small hours deliveries and rubbish collections) so we lost sleep.Peter Jenks review 5 Jul 2025
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We very much enjoyed our self-guided walking vacation on the Stockholm Archipelago. We were blessed with excellent weather and enjoyed beautiful scenery in the Tyresta National Park and on the islands or Uto, Alo and Orno. We saw deer, moose, hare and many different birds, including osprey, white-tailed eagle and common crane. We found the route-finding for the walks straightforward and was made even easier by the Ride with GPS app. The information provide by the operator was comprehensive and helpful, and Carmen is always on hand if needed. The hotels (including the well-located ones in Stockholm) were all of a good standard with generous breakfasts, and the travel arrangements by bus/boat all worked like clockwork. There were many highlights, including the visit to the remote Huvudskar islands and arriving hot and tired after a walk at the Batshaket fish restaurant on Alo and sharing a seafood platter and wine as the sun went down over the water.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Keep it simple - the itinerary and information provided are excellent, so just go with it.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We used local bakeries and shops and used the excellent public transport while there. Much of the information pack we returned for re-use.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Five Stars - an excellent and relaxing get-away.Edwina Jones review 28 Jul 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We loved the paths on the islands through unspoilt flower filled meadows and woodland paths lined with blueberry bushes. We rarely met anyone else as we walked. On the small boat out to Huvudskar we chatted to the people heading out to spend a week on the island - no running water or electricity - who go every year without fail. We had just a glimpse of life out on this remote island.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The walking is not particularly strenuous although the first day is a long one through the Tyresta National Park forest with no convenient cafes so stock up on drinks, lunch and snacks the night before.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We definitely made good use of the excellent bakeries and cafes at Dalaro, Uto and local restaurants in the evening. Walking, cycling and using public transport feels as though it has reduced environmental impact.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
This is our second walking trip in the Stockholm Archipelago and we can't recommend the vacation highly enough. The organisation is fantastic and the islands are so beautiful. We have been very lucky with weather both times with temperatures ideal for walking. We can't wait to return next year.Holiday Reviews
