The two rural sections - Trang An and Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park - were a serene contrast to the city highlights. All good.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be prepared for the contrasts in temperature. In March Hanoi was cold while the south was sweltering. Meals are very cheap - and delicious!Traffic in Saigon and in Hanoi's old town is intense, you may need a face mask.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, with use of local guides etc.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The pollution in the cities is a bit of a shock at first but that's part of Vietnam with millions of scooters and doesn't detract from the experience.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes we bought from small local traders where possible to benefit the local economy.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Thank you for your kind comments, so please you enjoyed your tour of Cambodia - thankfully spider/insect eating is not compulsory!
Your tour does benefit local people. Our guides usually explain the benefits of our tours to the community and environment. You eat in local restaurants, stay in locally owned hotels, we use local transport owned by our Khmer colleagues and use local guides. We travel in small groups (in your case only the three of you) which enables us to use locally run places, often designed for local people as opposed to specifically for tourists or larger tour groups, and to support smaller community based projects. We also encourage people to purchase local handicrafts at the places we visit.
Sorry there wasn't enough time to wander at will - its tricky in a 7 day tour of Cambodia and at Angkor we try and introduce you to a variety of temples from differing periods, at different times of day, architectural styles .... but we can't help but share your wish that there was more time.
