Iris Halm review 22 Feb 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
the surf lesson
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Bali is fantastic but don't expect off the beaten track in Bali. And shorten your day trips to two destinations per day - otherwise you spend 70% of your time in a car, mostly stuckin traffic. for off the beaten track go to Java.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Partly yes. However, I feel the hotels could have been chosen better, with a preference for smaller, privately owned hotels, rather than big chains. we particularly didn't like the last hotel in Nusa Dua, firstly it was old and the rooms small and noisy, secondly, for me, artificial gated hotel -compounds such as Nusa Dua are the opposite of responsible traveling.
Also, I don't understand why responsibletravel put us in touch with an Uk travel agent rather than directly with the local travel organisation destination asia. In my opinion, the travel company didn't add any value but just increased the cost for us. Even worse, we got into a fight with the travel company about the hotel bookings (partly unnecessarily as we found out when we got there).
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Very nice but didn't take sufficiently into account that we were traveling with a kid (which I had specifically asked for).
Here at Responsible Travel we represent many different travel specialists, large and small, UK based and locally based. We aim to match you with the best suited specialist for that area.
They all offer vacations that aim to increase the benefits of tourism for local communities, economies and reduce negative impacts on the environments.
